Approach
Our approach to construction management and execution is rooted in the belief that collaboration among client, architect, and contractor is the foundation for success; everything we do is about building trust, providing the best possible guidance and craftsmanship, and forming enduring relationships.
In construction, foundations are key. The foundation of every one of our projects is honest, clear, consistent, and timely communication. We are committed to accurate estimating and transparent accounting. We believe that budget and schedule management are essential parts of the process. Our services include overall project planning, pre-construction management, and construction execution. Every day, we bring a passion for impeccable craftsmanship and the desire to keep the process imaginative, collaborative, predictable, and rewarding for the entire project team.
About Us
A believer in the idea that every project depends on the success of the smallest of details, Steve Hobbs balances an understanding of the big-picture aspects of each project with a passion for the details that can define a project. He brings over 25 years of specialty building experience, a discerning eye, and a commitment to teamwork to each project. Before founding Hobbs Builders, Steve began his career working on restorations of historic buildings and homes in Philadelphia and Boston, before moving to Seattle to work in construction management.
Steve’s love of the outdoors and understanding of the natural architecture around us were inspired by his time spent studying conservation biology and environmental studies at Middlebury College. In 2014, he and his family moved to the Wood River Valley to enjoy the intimacy of a small community, access to the outdoors, and the culture that the area has to offer.
Armed with a passion for coordinating complex projects that involve collaboration among clients, architects, designers, and craftspeople, Steve firmly believes that precision and the finest craft should be expected and celebrated in each aspect of every project. He knows that the client and their entire team are an integral part of the project’s successful progression and that communication between all of the players is essential.
Steve’s portfolio of projects include new contemporary and traditionally-designed residences, estate homes, historic renovations, condominium and high-end tenant improvements, infrastructure, and technical support for major art installations.
Steve lives in Ketchum, Idaho, with his three children. He is an active proponent of strong educational, athletic, and artistic opportunities for his children and the youth of our community. In his downtime, Steve enjoys cycling, hiking, skiing, and all things outdoors in the mountains and backcountry of Idaho.
